Did you know that The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for a baby’s first year? Human milk is designed for human babies. Breast milk has over 200 components, many of which cannot be duplicated in the artificial baby milks made commercially.

Mothers who breastfeed their babies:

Lower their risk of breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer
Have less risk of post-partum bleeding and anemia
Tend to lose weight easier
Save time and money

Babies who receive artificial formulas are more likely to have:

Asthma or pneumonia
More illnesses in general, including ear infections
Allergies
Diabetes Mellitus
Constipation

Breastfeeding classes, which are open to the public
Consultations for WIC clients who may need extra assistance with breastfeeding
A breastfeeding-friendly office where Moms can relax and feed their babies
Pumps and other equipment to assist WIC mothers
Breastfeeding Peer counselors who are trained to give support to WIC clients
