PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assists WIC Program professionals in clinics teaching low risk nutrition classes, providing clerical support, and performing some laboratory tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
--Answers telephone and greets participants in a courteous and timely manner.
--Makes appointments accurately.
--Correctly figures income and address eligibility.
--Fills out forms completely and accurately.
--Accurately maintains manual and automated inventory.
--Completes assigned filing on a timely weekly basis.
--Prepares charts for designated categories.
--Accurately performs laboratory tasks.
--Assists in outreach activities.
--Consults with supervisor on “uncommon requests” and follows his/her recommendation.
--Participates in community health promotion efforts through teaching and counseling community groups.
--Documents services provided promptly and on correct record forms.
--Reviews charts at end of clinic to be sure all recording is complete and signed.
--Participates in record audit process as requested.
--Responds to requests for information and assistance from the community and individuals.
--Provides assistance, education, and referral to resources for those who visit or phone the WIC Program.
--Coordinates services, initiates referrals, and accepts referrals from other providers.
--Assists WIC vendors with common questions.
--Provides appropriate documentation.
--Records in a clear, concise, and objective manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) reading, writing, and speaking skills preferred.
Must type 35 wpm (net).
Experience: One year in general office or heavy public contact position. Must have current Texas Driver’s license and good driving record.
