What is ImmTrac?:
ImmTrac is the Texas Immunization Registry, a secure and confidential system operated by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). It is designed to consolidate and store immunization records for people of all ages who reside in Texas. The registry helps healthcare providers, schools, childcare facilities, and other authorized organizations keep track of vaccinations and ensure that individuals are up-to-date on their immunizations.
How ImmTrac Works?:
- Enrollment: Individuals must consent to be included in the registry. For children under 18, parents or guardians provide consent. Adults must provide their own consent to participate. This consent is typically given when receiving a vaccination or through a form that can be submitted to DSHS.
- Data Entry: Healthcare providers, such as doctors, clinics, and pharmacies, enter immunization data into ImmTrac. This includes the type of vaccine administered, the date of administration, and any relevant booster or follow-up doses needed.
- Data Storage and Protection: The information in ImmTrac is securely stored and protected under state laws to ensure confidentiality. Only authorized users, such as healthcare providers and public health officials, can access the data.
- Access and Retrieval: Authorized users can access ImmTrac to retrieve immunization records. This helps them make informed decisions about which vaccines are needed and avoid duplicate vaccinations. Parents, guardians, and individuals can also request their or their child's immunization records from ImmTrac.
- Benefits: ImmTrac helps maintain accurate and complete immunization records, reduces the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases, and aids in public health efforts, such as responding to outbreaks and ensuring community immunity.

How to Enroll Your Child in ImmTrac
To register your child, complete and sign the Immunization Registry (ImmTrac) Consent Form (C-7) and submit it along with immunization records.
Alternatively, complete and sign the ImmTrac Registration Form during the birth certificate process for newborns.
